About this species
Leptogenys diminuta(Smith, 1857)
Leptogenys diminuta is an Asian ponerine ant associated with the forest floor. Workers are active predators, and colonies of Leptogenys commonly recruit nestmates to animal prey while using queens that are permanently wingless or worker-like.

South and Southeast Asia.
Forest litter, soil, rotting wood and humid shaded ground.
Ground-foraging predators, often recruiting groups to prey that cannot be subdued by one worker.
Arthropod prey, with many Leptogenys showing specialisation on particular litter invertebrates.
Colonies are generally moderate in size and may reproduce through worker-like ergatoid queens.
Many Leptogenys queens lack wings and resemble enlarged workers.
The elongated body is well suited to movement through narrow litter spaces.
Group recruitment allows capture of prey larger than a single worker.
