Open ground, field margins, grassland and agricultural landscapes.
Nocturnal or crepuscular ground-active predator.
Predatory on small invertebrates.
Adults are often found above ground on stems and seed heads, combining terrestrial running with deliberate climbing through vegetation.
The hind wings are functional, allowing rapid colonisation of temporary fields and disturbed habitats that flightless ground beetles may never reach.
Its unusually long legs and narrow body let it pass between grass stems while keeping the abdomen clear of dense vegetation and wet soil.
