Bring the hidden world of ants into your classroom.
A visually spectacular, curriculum-linked school visit using ants and extreme macro photography to explore evolution, adaptation, ecosystems, biodiversity, animal behaviour and the overlooked life beneath our feet.
Where science, art and curiosity come alive.
Ants are projected larger than life, revealing queens, workers, soldiers, brood care, colony life and extraordinary behaviours usually hidden beneath our feet.
A high-impact science enrichment experience.
The Hidden World of Ants uses one of nature’s most successful animal groups to open up big scientific ideas: adaptation, evolution, classification, ecosystems, communication, cooperation, competition, biodiversity and the value of close observation.
Pupils do not just hear facts. They see the hidden world enlarged on screen — every eye, mandible, hair, queen, worker, soldier and colony detail revealed through world-class macro photography.
A journey into one of Earth’s greatest societies.
Every session combines spectacular imagery, accessible science, storytelling, humour and pupil questions.
Choose the format that fits your school day.
Fees are designed to be clear for schools, with options for single presentations, deeper enrichment sessions and full-day programmes.

It is ideal for sharing with Heads of Science, enrichment coordinators, librarians, summer school organisers and senior leadership teams.
Macro photography, education and storytelling.
Eduard Florin Niga is a professional macro photographer based in Aylesbury, UK, specialising in ants, and the author of Ants: Workers of the World — a photographic celebration of ant diversity, behaviour and beauty.
For the past decade, Eduard has photographed ants from British woodlands to the rainforests of Madagascar, documenting queens, workers, soldiers, males, brood care, colony life and extraordinary forms of ant behaviour.
Alongside his photography, Eduard spent 15 years working in education, teaching and communicating with learners from a wide range of backgrounds. This experience helps him deliver clear, engaging and age-appropriate presentations for schools.
The journey began with a simple question from his daughter: “Where are the ants’ eyes, Daddy?” That question changed the way he saw ants forever — and now helps pupils discover the extraordinary world hidden in plain sight.
What schools are saying
Reflections from teachers after pupils experienced The Hidden World of Ants.
Eduard Florin Niga’s visit to our school’s end of summer celebration ArtsFEST event was one of those rare sessions that pupils will remember and hopefully next time one of these special insects crawls onto them, they will pause and the relationship will be forever altered. He has spent years photographing ants at a scale most of us will never see with the naked eye unless lucky enough to see his work, and the results are extraordinary: faces with such personality and as varied as the streets of London, mandibles like curved sabres (or not!), compound eyes faceted like stained glass, bodies uniquely adapted to meet function. His exploration of their incredible lifestyles from weaponry to speed as they run lightning fast through the desert, was as full of personality as it was the facts he dropped to the impressed pupils.
He is a man who has built much of his working life around noticing what everyone else walks past, the patience and passion behind his images inspired our year 10s as they were asked to draw their own highly textured ant portraits, developed directly out of the session. Using the same close, unflinching attention he gives to an ant’s exoskeleton, they were inspired to create their own unique ant portrait, and everyone’s ‘ant face’ was indeed unique when displayed in our gallery at the end.
At the end of the day however, it was the possibility that they can carve a career out of their own unique passions that struck me as the best message of all that he left pupils with. And surely a life spent following genuine passion, however strange it looks from the outside, beats a life without curiosity and the intense joy it brings to those who embrace it.
“Thank you for your fantastic talk. The students were evidently fascinated by what you had to say, as were the teachers. I was personally really impressed with your story, your involvement of our resident ant expert, and the clear passion you have for ants.
Really remarkable and I caught my Head to tell her how amazing you were and give her a copy of the book, so I hope we get to see you again soon.
Teaching the students to appreciate the natural world and to pay attention to the complexity right under their noses is an amazing calling! Well done.”
