What connects every expedition

Photography comes before ticking off a species list.

These trips are designed by a specialist macro photographer, so the small world is treated seriously — but Madagascar gives us far more than macro alone.

01
Macro gets real field time.

Insects, spiders and tiny rainforest subjects are not squeezed into the margins of a generic wildlife itinerary.

02
Day and night both matter.

Nocturnal sessions reveal a different forest and a completely different photographic problem.

03
Wider wildlife remains part of the story.

Reptiles, amphibians, lemurs, birds and environmental detail can all matter when the opportunity is right.

Photograph Madagascar with Eduard Niga.

Eduard is a professional macro photographer, educator and the photographer and author of Ants: Workers of the World, published by Abrams, New York.

He has photographed in the forests around Andasibe and personally leads both the private and small-group programmes. Experienced Malagasy wildlife guides bring the essential knowledge of wildlife, trails, access and changing conditions; Eduard stays with the photographic problem — lighting, diffusion, working distance, focus, composition, backgrounds and the patience required to make the image properly.
